    constant unexplained backpain? [ADVICE]

Bear with me. This is hard to explain but here goes.

I have excruciating backpain. At first it felt like I'd slept funny, or like it was just part of the fluey body aches I'd had. I've been sick on and off for weeks now. Headcold, plus random bouts of nausea, lack of appetite, all the usual. No I'm not UTD lol.

The pain is so bad at times I'll have to get up out of bed at night and sit in the shower with the hot water on my back. The worst part is that it's constant. And I can't pinpoint the location. It's between my ribcage and hips.. has anyone ever had this?? And what can I do to help it? It's like my spine is aching. So far I've learned heat is my friend, and it makes it bearable.

If it doesn't resolve itself this week I'm going to see a dr.

    Any ideas in the meantime??

Some gentle stretching will help. I'd probably make an appointment with a Physio. You could also try walking in a pool.

Have you been checked for a kidney infection? Last time I had one I had the back pain, nausea etc.

no, but don't you have to have a UTI first?? I was warned about kidney problems after DSs birth, but then later told false alarm. Better safe than sorry. Dr tomorrow.

    Thanks girls

given location i would assume kidney as well - best to get the test done. you don't have to have UTI symptoms to have kidney problems. up your water intake and get some ural into you if you can until you get to the doctors.
if that doesn't come up, it's possible you've strained a muscle in your lower back - heat is a great option - heatpack can help if you don't want to be in the shower. see a physio/masseuse or similar to get it checked out.

I had no UTI symptoms with my kidney infection, it was about 2 week post c-section, so that may have something to do with it.

It sounds most likely to be a muscle strain but if you're having any fevers or chills I'd head to the doctor sooner rather than later.

I'd go and see your GP now to rule out a UTI or kidney infection. If that's all fine then a chiropractor or an osteopath may be able to help you find some relief. Hope you feel better soon.

Yep I had a severe UTI and was put on IV AB's immediately. I suffered them often, and yet was completely taken aback when that was my diagnosis because I literally went from feeling great to feeling like death with hours. I will never ever hold my wee in again!! But definatly have it checked.
Within 24 hrs I felt relatively normal. Protect your kidneys hun and get it checked JIC. xx

Because you have other symptoms that go along with infection, it would be better to get this checked sooner rather than later.

What happened? Did you see the dr? Is it getting any better now?
